Georgia Visa Cost for Indians: Fees, Processing Charges & Other Expenses

The Georgian e-visa costs about USD 35. Plenty of websites will charge you USD 150 for the same thing.

They aren't offering anything the official portal doesn't. Georgia's government has been explicit that these sites aren't affiliated with it, and the visa they deliver is the identical document you'd get yourself for a fifth of the price.

So here's exactly what this visa costs, what each fee is for, and the two expenses most guides leave out entirely.

What you actually pay

Two fees, one application

 

The first goes to the Georgian government through the official portal. The second is a compulsory identity check charged separately by the DuVerify platform. Both apply to tourist, business and transit e-visas alike.

Payment is by Visa or Mastercard, and usefully, the card doesn't have to be in the applicant's name. A family member or travel companion can pay.

Neither fee comes back

This is the detail worth reading twice. Both the USD 20 visa fee and the USD 15 verification charge are fully non-refundable, whatever the outcome.

Rejected? Non-refundable. Made a typo and need to resubmit? You pay both again. Approved but never travelled? Still gone.

That changes how you should approach the form. A careless application isn't just slower, it's a second USD 35.

Insurance a new cost, and a cheap one

Since January 2026, travel health insurance is compulsory for foreign visitors, with a minimum coverage requirement of GEL 30,000, roughly USD 11,000.

That coverage figure alarms people. The premium shouldn't. Policies start from around GEL 2 a day, so a week's cover runs to roughly GEL 14, somewhere near USD 5. In rupees that's a few hundred, not a few thousand.

The policy has to cover emergency medical treatment, urgent hospitalisation, emergency dental care, medical evacuation and repatriation, and it must span your full stay including entry and exit dates. Indian policies qualify if the terms match.

It's checked at passport control. A PDF on your phone is accepted, but arriving without one can mean buying a policy on the spot or being refused entry.

The two costs nobody lists

Your bank's cut

You're paying dollars from an Indian card. Forex markup and cross-border transaction charges sit on top of the USD 35 and vary by bank. Small, but it's why the figure on your statement won't match the one on the portal.

TCS, and when it doesn't apply

Tax Collected at Source applies to outbound remittances under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme. At around ₹3,300, a standalone visa fee sits nowhere near the ₹10 lakh threshold above which 20% TCS applies to general remittances.

The exception matters. Since 1 April 2026, overseas tour packages carry a flat 2% TCS from the first rupee. Book the visa inside a package and the treatment changes. Either way TCS is an advance tax you reclaim when you file, not a charge. Confirm your own position with a CA.

Budgeting the whole thing

For one traveller, before flights and accommodation:

•      Visa and verification: around ₹3,300.

•      Insurance for a week a few hundred rupees.

•      Bank charges: variable, small.

Call it under ₹4,000 to be legally cleared for entry. For a family of four, roughly four times that, since each applicant pays their own fees.
