Can Indians Travel to the UAE Multiple Times on a 5-Year Visa?

Yes. As many times as you like. There is no limit on the number of trips.

What there is a limit on is days. And that distinction, entries versus days, is the one that trips up almost every frequent traveller who assumes a five-year visa means five years of coming and going.

You could fly to Dubai twelve times in a year and stay entirely within the rules. You could also fly twice and break them. The difference has nothing to do with how often you board a plane.

Here's how the entries actually work, what caps them, and whether Indian passport holders face anything the rules don't apply to everyone else.

The short answer

Unlimited entries across five years. Up to 90 days per visit. No more than 180 days total inside the UAE in any visa year.

Count trips as much as you want. The authorities count days.

How many times can you actually enter?

There is no cap on entries

ICP describes the visa as allowing the holder to enter and exit the UAE multiple times across its validity. No number is attached, because there isn't one. Six trips, twenty trips, one a month for a year, all permitted.

This is what separates it from the ordinary 30-day or 60-day tourist visa, where a single-entry permit is spent the moment you leave the country. On the five-year visa, leaving doesn't cost you anything except the days you spent.

The cap that does exist

Two numbers govern everything.

Each individual visit can run up to 90 continuous days. Across your visa year, your total time in the country cannot exceed 180 days.

Your visa year runs from the date of your first entry, not from 1 January. If you first landed on 14 June, your 180 days reset on 14 June the following year. Unused days don't carry forward, so a light year doesn't earn you a heavier one.

What a year of travel can actually look like

The 180 days can be spent almost any way you choose. Two very different travel patterns, both entirely legal:

The frequent short-trip pattern

• Six business trips of 30 days each, spread across the year. Total 180 days. Six separate entries, all within the rules.

• Or twelve trips of 15 days. Same total, twice as many entries, equally compliant.

The long-stay pattern

• One 90-day visit in spring, another 90-day visit in autumn. Two entries, 180 days, fully used.

Same allowance, completely different shape. What you cannot do is combine them two 90-day trips leaves nothing for a third visit, however short.

A weekend in December after using your 180 days by October is a violation, not a technicality.

The rules attached to each entry

Ninety days, then out

Each entry gives you a fresh 90-day permission for that visit. You can extend once from inside the UAE by a further 90 days, but that extension comes out of the same 180-day annual budget, not in addition to it.

Extensions are chargeable. The base fee is AED 500 through ICP and AED 600 through GDRFA Dubai, usually landing between AED 1,000 and AED 1,200 once VAT and processing charges are added.

The 60-day window before your first trip

One deadline applies before you've travelled at all. The permit is valid for 60 days from issuance, and your first entry has to happen inside that window or it's cancelled.

After that first entry, the five-year clock is running and the 60-day rule is behind you.

Every crossing is recorded

Entries and exits are logged electronically, so the authorities always know your running total even when you've lost track. Border runs don't reset anything. Leaving and returning gives you a new 90-day permission for that visit, but every day still counts toward the same 180.

Worth keeping your own record anyway. A note on your phone with each arrival and departure date takes seconds and saves an argument at immigration.

Do Indian travellers face any extra restriction?

On the visa itself, no

The permit is open to applicants of all nationalities, and Indian passport holders apply on exactly the same six criteria as everyone else: passport validity, photograph, the USD 4,000 bank balance held over six months, a return ticket, UAE-valid health insurance, and proof of accommodation.

No sponsor, no employer, no local host. Once issued, an Indian passport holder's entry rights under this visa are identical to anyone else's.

The alternative some Indians already have

Before applying, it's worth checking whether you need this visa at all.

Some Indian passport holders qualify for a conditional 14-day visa on arrival, extendable by a further 14 days, if they hold a valid US visit visa, a US Green Card, or an EU visit or residence visa. ICP revised these guidelines during 2026, and Indian nationals holding only a UK residence visa are set to lose that facility.

If your trips are short and infrequent and you hold one of the qualifying documents, visa on arrival may cover you. If you travel often, or need more than a fortnight at a time, it won't.

What this visa does not let you do

Unlimited entries is not unlimited permission. Three things stay off the table:

• You cannot work in the UAE on it. It's a visit visa, and working on it is a violation with consequences for every future application.

• You don't receive an Emirates ID, and the visa doesn't convert into residency later. The Green Visa and Golden Visa are separate schemes with their own criteria.

• You cannot exceed 180 days a year by re-entering. Overstaying costs AED 50 a day with no grace period, and puts your AED 3,000 refundable guarantee at risk. GDRFA states that in the event of a violation, fines are collected at the departure port and the security amount is forfeited.
