The visa-free route: when Indians skip the e-Visa
This is the part most blogs bury, so read it first.
Ordinance No. 256 lists 50 countries and territories. If you hold a currently valid visa or residence permit issued by any of them, you can enter Georgia and stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period, visa-free. The list includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Israel, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and every Schengen and EU member on it, plus the Gulf states of the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
One condition matters above all others. Your foreign visa or residence permit must be valid on the day you cross the Georgian border. Not applied-for, not recently expired. Valid on entry day, and you must be able to show it in your travel document. An expired US visa does nothing for you here.
A word of caution for Gulf residents. There is a documented history of Indian and Pakistani nationals holding valid GCC residence being turned back at Georgian entry points, sometimes without a stated reason. If you are travelling on a Gulf residence permit rather than a Western visa, carry your return ticket, hotel bookings and funds proof, and treat entry as likely rather than guaranteed. If you want certainty, get the e-Visa anyway.

The Georgia e-Visa for Indians in 2026
The e-Visa is the standard route for Indian passport holders with no qualifying foreign visa. It is a short-stay visa, and for Indian applicants it covers stays of up to 30 days.
The official portal describes three steps: apply online, pay by card, and print the approved visa. That is genuinely all it is. There is no embassy appointment and no couriering of original documents.
Georgia tourist visa fees are low. The state fee is USD 20 plus a 2% service charge, so USD 20.40 in total. During verification, watch your inbox closely, because the email verification link is valid for only one hour and the payment must be made within a few hours of the notification, or the application cancels itself.
Documents and passport rules
To complete the online application you need very little: a valid passport, a recent digital photo, and a credit or debit card. The photo must be taken within the last six months, face-on, no profile shots.
Your passport itself has to clear a few bars. It should stay valid for at least three months beyond the visa's validity, hold at least two blank pages, have been issued within the previous ten years, and be undamaged with no unofficial marks.
The heavier list comes at the border. Georgian officers can ask you to present all of the following on arrival, so carry them:
